Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till, who eventually moved up to middleweight after a series of life-threatening weight cuts, has scored prime real estate on the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight card, recently made official for Sat., July 20, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“The Gorilla” will battle former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a special six-round cruiserweight contest as part of the Netflix-streamed lineup. This marks the “sweet science” debut for Till (0-0), who turns 32 later this year. As for the 38 year-old Chavez Jr. (53-6-1), he hasn’t competed since decisioning David Zegarra back in late 2021.

“I’m very happy to be a part of this event,” Till said. “Paul vs. Tyson is going to be one of the biggest events of our generation, and to make my professional boxing debut on it is brilliant. I’m very happy with my opponent. I’ve been a fan of his father for many years and I’ve been a fan of Chavez Jr. too — he is a great fighter who I respect, but make no mistake about it, I am coming to knock him out in the first round. I am happy with where I am in life, and I am coming to make a statement in Texas.”

Also competing this summer in “The Lone Star State” is lightweight phenom H2O Sylve (11-0, 9 KOs), who collides with fellow undefeated prospect Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (17-0, 12 KOs) in a 10-round contest on the “Paul vs. Tyson” undercard. Sylve was named ESPN Ringside’s “Prospect of the Year” back in 2022.

“I can’t wait to step into the ring with ‘Kid Austin,’” said Sylve. “He’s just another stepping stone on my path to greatness and when I’m done with him, he’ll wish he never signed the contract. It’s an honor to fight on this historic card and on Saturday, July 20th, over 270 million fans can tune in on Netflix and 80,000 more fans live at AT&T Stadium will have the opportunity to see me take care of ‘Kid Austin’ once and for all. Thank you to MVP and Netflix for this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Expect more “Paul vs. Tyson” fight card announcements in the coming days.
