That’s one way to earn a spot in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Venezuela’s Yuneisy Duben made the statement of all statements on Dana White’s Contender Series tonight (Tues., Sept. 3, 2024). As a colossal +900 underdog in some books, Duben took on the previously undefeated 5-0 Shannon Clark. However, Clark’s first career loss came via a vicious right hand 73 seconds into round one.
The win earned Duben the ever-rare instant contract from UFC boss, White.

“That’s gotta be the biggest upset in Contender Series history,” White said. “You don’t gotta go sit in the back, you’re in. That is unbelievable. Congratulations. Incredible.”
Before Duben’s win, the biggest Contender Series upset belonged to Brendson Ribeiro, who was +550, according to Aaron Bronsteter.
With the win, the 28-year-old Flyweight prospect, Duben, advances to 5-0 and UFC’s roster.
