The UFC’s #8 ranked heavyweight, Alistair Overeem, just stopped the #9 ranked, Walt Harris, in the second round of the UFC on ESPN 8 main event. The win did not come easy, as Overeem had to endure an early blitz that included a knockdown being scored by Harris. Overeem found top position late first round, and then hit a devastating head kick to left hand that dropped Harris. Harris gave up his back and Overeem punched away until the referee had seen enough. What a roller coaster for many reasons.

Round 2 – Harris pumping the jab. He looks tired though. He throws a kick that’s blocked. Slow pace over the first minute. Overeem with an inside leg kick. Overeem with a head kick and a big right and Harris goes down! He’s in turtle position with Overeem landing rights to the head. Overeem sinks hooks and flattens him out. Overeem still punching and taking his time. Harris is just stuck. Overeem wasn’t landing very hard shots, but after two ref warnings, the bout is brought to a close.
