Highlights: Burns dominates Woodley in Vegas

Check out the full fight video highlights of Gilbert Burns taking Tyron Woodley to school in the UFC on ESPN main event. 

The UFC on ESPN 9 main event was the setting where the promotion’s the #6 rated welterweight, Gilbert Burns, put it on former champion, Tyron Woodley, to win a one-sided decision. Burns struck early, rocking and dropping Woodley in the opening moments of the fight. By the end of the round, a major gash had opened up around the left eye of Tyron, but the outman did an excellent job of stopping the bleeding.

Burns then proceeded to dominate Woodley with ample aggression and a good amount of volume. He then struck again in the fourth frame, dropping the former champ with a flurry of hooks. This was Burns’ night from start to finish, and he has officially established himself as one of the UFC’s welterweight elites.

Round 1 – Woodley fires off a thunderous right hand but it misses. Leg kick by Burns and another one. Big right by Burns and Woodley is hurt! Burns unleashes with hammerfists on the ground but can’t get the finish! Full mount for Burns and he drops some elbows. Woodley is cut badly as Burns dishes out more punishment. Burns quickly bails on the one-armed guillotine but he goes back to the ground-and-pound from full mount. Woodley with an impressive escape and he’s back to his feet! Excellent recovery from the former champion. Body kick by Burns. Left hook by Burns. Body shot by Woodley gets through. Good leg kick by Burns. Body kick and a left hook by Burns underneath Woodley’s right hand. 10-8 Burns.

Official result: Gilbert Burns def. Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44, 50-44)
