Japanese boxing sensation Naoya Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs) kept his undefeated record intact by stopping Irish bruiser TJ Doheny earlier today at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. In the process, the 31 year-old “Monster” retained his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super bantamweight titles.

“I know boxing is not easy, so I really wanted to slow it down, one [round] at a time, giving my opponent damage,” Inoue said through an interpreter. “I am still [a work] in progress. I want to celebrate how TJ Doheny brought the fight.”

Doheny (26-5, 20 KOs) appeared to suffer an injury late in the fight, forcing the referee to bring a halt to the action. The “Power” stoppage marked the ninth straight finish for Inoue, who is expected to face Sam Goodman or Murodjon Akhmadaliev later this year.

“You can expect more from me in the future,” Inoue continued. “To all the fans around the world, thank you so much for watching this fight. This is not everything that I have, I still have a long way to go.”
