Who saw that coming?

Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia got brutally knocked out by Bruno Surace last night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2024) in a 10-round super Middleweight main event from inside Estadio Caliente in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico.

Munguia vs. Surace was supposed to be your average boxing squash match. Munguia was a -4000 betting favorite, and up until the finish, he looked like a massive favorite. The Mexican fighter battered the French boxer for six rounds, even sending him to the canvas in the second round.

However, Surace only needed one monster right hand. In the seventh round, Surace floored Munguia, putting him flat on his back, and he did not meet the ten count.

Check out the finish below:

Munguia (44-2, 35 KOs) competed four times in 2024, going 2-2. One of those fights was against Canelo Alvarez for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles on Cinco De Mayo weekend. Munguia lost a unanimous decision to Canelo (watch highlights).

On the other hand, Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs) only competed once this year, and it was this massive upset win. The undefeated 26-year-old will probably rematch Munguia next year at some point.
