James Gallagher was looking to earn his fifth straight win inside the Bellator cage in hopes of earning a shot at the Bantamweight title. Unfortunately for “Strabanimal,” Patchy Mix had plans of his own when the two stepped into the cage earlier today (Fri., Nov. 5, 2021) in the co-main event of Bellator 270 in Dublin, Ireland.
For two rounds, the two men were both looking for the guillotine on multiple occasions in what ultimately wound up being a grappling match. Mix used his size advantage to overpower his smaller foe, taking him down and keeping down for a lot of the fight.
Gallagher, though, was undeterred and tried his best to close the distance to get in a few shots, but he couldn’t do it on a consistent basis. Needing a finish in round three, Gallagher went in for an early takedown, which ultimately ended up being his down fall. That’s because Mix was able to latch on to a guillotine choke to force the tap.
A close moment for @StrabanimalMMA but @TeamMixMMA pops out of the choke.

While an impressive victory for Mix, he will likely need to win a few more to get into the championship conversation due to the fact that he missed weight by a 1.5 pounds. Nevertheless, he has now won two straight and is 4-1 for the promotion.
