Song Yadong picked up his second UFC main event win last night at UFC Vegas 83 (Sat., Dec. 9, 2023) when he defeated Chris Gutierrez via a lop-sided unanimous decision inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Song is now 2-1 in main events.
During UFC Vegas 83 media day on Wed., Song already had his next opponent in mind: Petr Yan, who he was rumored to fight for UFC Shanghai – before it was moved to the Apex.
Well, the Russian was not impressed with the Chinese fighter’s dominant win whatsoever, as he tweeted a yawn emoji after the fight.

It didn’t take Song long to respond to Yan’s boring criticism.
“I told everybody I want to fight Petr Yan. He posted an emoji, which means my fight was boring, but his fight was boring too, like sh-t,” Song told the media during the UFC Vegas 83 post-fight press conference (watch here). So, let’s fight at UFC 299. I heard he wants to fight in March; okay, let’s fight in March. We both don’t go back; let’s get face to face and see whose boxing is good and who is the best boxer in the division…I want to fight him in Miami.”
The No. 7 Bantamweight also tweeted at Yan after the press conference.
“You next, no more hiding,” Song wrote.

Song is riding a two-fight win streak since his doctor stoppage loss to Cory Sandhagen, while Yan is riding a three-fight losing skid and hasn’t fought since his ‘boring’ loss to Merab Dvalishvili.
Oh yeah, Yan had an awkward staredown with Conor McGregor yesterday, too.
