Holly Holm has made the decision to split from her husband Jeff Kirkpatrick.
That’s according to TMZ Sports, which continues to provide a strange hodgepodge of UFC news and gossip. Based on the divorce documents procured by the site, the two separated in early 2018 and no longer live together. Holm and Kirkpatrick married in Cancun back in 2012. The two have no children.
Holm is looking to have her legal name of Holly Holm-Kirkpatrick changed back to good ol’ Holly Holm – not that she ever competed in the UFC with Kirkpatrick’s name. She’s also hoping to keep the money she’s earned fighting in the promotion. Her filing says both parties are self-supporting and neither should get spousal support.
As TMZ notes, Jeff Kirkpatrick may have a different view on the subject. The outlet reports Holm as making ‘more than $1.6 million in her MMA career,’ and we can only hope that’s a low, low, low estimate for a woman that has headlined five of her eight UFC fights, including UFC 193, the 9th best selling PPV of all time.
That was the event where she kicked Ronda Rousey to the curb with effortless grace. Whether she’ll be able to do the same with her hyphenated surname remains to be seen.
On the actual cage fighting side of things, Holm’s last appearance was at UFC 225 in June of 2018 where she won a unanimous decision over Megan Anderson in the desolate hellscape known as the women’s featherweight division. A knee injury put her on the shelf for the remainder of the year, but she’s now set to make her return to 135 pounds at UFC 235 against Aspen Ladd on March 2nd.
