Undefeated Holly Holm continued to build her case for a shot at the big time on Friday night, when she scored a spectacular fifth-round knockout of Julianna Werner at Legacy FC 30 in Albuquerque.
But the damage done on the way there could set her back awhile. Holm suffered a broken left arm early in the Legacy FC women’s bantamweight title fight.
In the immediate aftermath of the fight, there were questions as to why Holm, a former pro boxing champion, couldn’t finish off the overmatched Warner before the fifth round. But with news coming out that Holm apparently broke her arm in the first round, the final-round head kick finish becomes all the more impressive.
No word yet on how long Holm, touted by many as a future contender for Ronda Rousey’s UFC bantamweight title, will be out of action.
