A stacked card gets even more stacked with the addition of a great lightweight bout.
As if UFC 226 wasn’t deep enough already, it now has another top-level lightweight bout to add to the mix. New Zealand site Stuff has confirmed that their countryman Daniel Hooker will face off with Gilbert Burns at the Vegas event on July 5th.
Hooker (16-7, 6-3 UFC) has been on a tear since moving back up to the lightweight division. He has three wins in a row, all via finish and two by devastating knee, in the last year. The last was arguably the biggest win of his career when he finished Jim Miller in the first round of their April bout.
Burns (14-2, 6-2 UFC), a jiu jitsu specialist, has looked great with his hands in his last two bouts. He has picked up knockout wins over Jason Saggo and Dan Moret.
Both men have won two performance bonuses in their UFC career thus far.
UFC 226 will be headlined by a heavyweight superfight between champion Stipe Miocic and light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier. Max Holloway will also defend his featherweight title against Brian Ortega.
