Tonight (Saturday, April 20th) The WBO welterweight title is at stake in Madison Square Garden in New York, as American star Terence Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs) defends his belt against England’s Amir Khan (33-4, 20 KOs). It’s the first pay-per-view event as part of Top Rank’s exclusive contract with ESPN.

Crawford is among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He became the undisputed junior welterweight champion in 2017 before making the move up to welterweight, and he won a major title there when he dispatched Jeff Horn in June. The Nebraskan then delighted his home fans with an emphatic 12th-round KO of Jose Benavidez Jr in a grudge match. Khan is a former world champion himself, albeit not at welterweight. He is known for his hand speed, boxing skills, but also a shaky chin that has been found by several opponents. Khan comes in as a heavy underdog primarily for the chin issue, and also because Crawford is in the prime of his career and looks nearly unbeatable. One thing we do know is that Khan is never in a boring fight, so he’ll surely give it a good effort win or lose.

Other undercard action includes rising prospects Teofimo Lopez (12-0, 10 KOs) and Shakur Stevenson (10-0, 6 KOs) in intriguing bouts against Edis Tatli (31-2, 10 KOs) and Christopher Diaz (24-1, 16 KOs) respectively.
