Top Rank Boxing on ESPN features a big title fight involving WBA and WBO lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KOs), as he takes on England’s Luke Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs) at The O2 Arena in London, England on Saturday, August 31st. With the vacant WBC title also at stake, the winner will unify the belts and have three of the four major world titles at 135 lbs.

Lomachenko is coming off a one-sided, brutal KO win over WBA mandatory challenger Anthony Crolla. Widely considered the best boxer in the world at the moment, the Ukrainian sensation aims to “unificate” (in his words) the lightweight division, so he’s setting on that goal starting now. This is Lomachenko’s first fight in England since he won gold in the 2012 Olympics in London, which is where Campbell also won his gold medal.
“Cool Hand” Luke is in his second world title fight, having come up just short against Jorge Linares for the WBA belt in 2017. Lomachenko would soon take the belt off Linares’ hands just months later, all while Campbell worked his way back into title contention. Campbell is a crafty southpaw who will have a height advantage and significant reach advantage against Lomachenko, but while he is in his home country, there’s a large contingent of Lomachenko fans even within the United Kingdom. This should produce a great atmosphere, as Lomachenko is a massive favorite, but Campbell definitely has a chance to spring a shocking outcome.
