Check out all the ways you can watch UFC 242.
The UFC is in the United Arab Emirates tonight with an event held at The Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. UFC 242 is headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and challenger Dustin Poirier.
Nurmagomedov is defending his title for the second time here, having defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Nurmagomedov’s victory there was overshadowed by the Dagestani’s incitement of a brawl cage side that spilled into the Octagon and throughout the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The UFC took no action against Nurmagomedov for his actions that night. The promotion has been equally ineffectual or uninterested in curtailing Nurmagomedov’s demonstrations of support for individuals who are accused of human rights violations in the North Caucasus region.
Poirier comes into his fight with Nurmagomedov off the back of a victory over current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and stoppage wins over Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje.
The co-main event of UFC 242 pits Edson Barboza versus Paul Felder in the lightweight division. Those men faced each other back in 2015 and earned Fight of the Night bonuses in a contest won by Barboza, via unanimous decision. The remainder of the PPV card includes Islam Makhachev (who also escaped sanctioning for the brawl at UFC 229) vs. Davi Ramos (lightweight), Curtis Blaydes vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov (heavyweight), and Mairbek Taisumov vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira (lightweight).
The prelim card starts at 12PM ET on FX (not ESPN this time). The headline bout is Joanne Calderwood vs. Andrea Lee in the flyweight division. There’s also Zubaira Tukhugov (who Dana White said would never fight in the UFC again) vs. Lerone Murphy in the featherweight division. Before that there is a catchweight bout between Liana Jojua and Sara Moras (who came in over the previously stipulated 135 lb limit) and a lightweight clash between Ottman Azaitar (another fighter with questionable associations) and Teemu Packalen.
The early prelims (10AM ET) are headlined by welterweights Belal Muhammad and Takashi Sato. That portion of the event also has Nordine Taleb vs. Muslim Salikhov (welterweight), Omari Akhmedov vs. Zak Cummings (middleweight), and Don Madge vs. Fares Ziam (lightweight).
