Flyweight contender Ian McCall will make his return to the Octagon to face up-and-coming prospect Justin Scoggins at UFC 201 in Atlanta, Georgia.

It’s been over a year since Ian McCall last competed in the UFC. The flyweight veteran says he will end his hiatus this summer, as he’s set to fight Justin Scoggins at UFC 201 on Saturday, July 30th in Atlanta, Georgia. It is unknown whether or not the fight will air on the PPV main card, the FS1 preliminary card, or the Fight Pass preliminary card.

McCall (13-5-1) last fought in January 2015, when he lost a unanimous decision to John Lineker at UFC 183. He’s been unable to duplicate his Tachi Palace Fights success inside the Octagon, where he’s just 2-3-1, although he had a solid case for getting the decision win (instead of the majority draw) vs. Demetrious Johnson in their first matchup back in March 2012. The only UFC wins for “Uncle Creepy” were against Iliarde Santos (since released from the promotion) and Bard Pickett (now back at bantamweight). Injuries have otherwise prevented the 31-year-old from maintaining a more active schedule, and he has openly discussed the possibility of retirement.

Scoggins (11-2) started his UFC career off in impressive fashion, finishing Richie Vaculik in December 2013, and getting a decision vs. Will Campuzano at UFC 171 in March 2014. Consecutive losses to Dustin Ortiz and John Moraga — the first two defeats of his career — halted his rise towards title contention, but the 22-year-old is coming off two highly impressive showings against Josh Sampo and Ray Borg, setting him up for the most prominent opponent he’s faced today. Scoggins was scheduled to face Ben Nguyen at UFC Brisbane in March, but pulled out with an injury.

UFC 201 is headlined by a pair of championship fights, with welterweight champ Robbie Lawler facing Tyron Woodley in the main event, while flyweight king Demetrious Johnson defends against Wilson Reis.
