In can you missed it, the second season of Karate Combat is underway and airs Sunday nights on their YouTube channel.
The second season of Karate Combat is underway and their unique events can be seen for free on Sunday nights at 7:00 PM ET on the Karate Combat YouTube channel. The first-three events are embedded at the bottom of this write-up. The promotion continues to be a visual marvel by implementing computer graphics that generate sci-fi atmospheres, and by emphasizing a cinematic feel that’s not typically seen in combat sports. It’s kind of like watching a movie, but the fight scene is actually real.
Whether you appreciate the production value, or find it to be rather gimmicky, it’s clear that Karate Combat is trying new things to provide a product unlike anything else. For example, for the first three events of the new season, they added former NFL star running back, Marshawn Lynch, to the commentary team alongside MMA legend Bas Rutten. Love it or hate it, they’re trying.
Karate Combat is predominantly a striking league that puts an emphasis on kicking techniques over punches, but make no mistake, the objective is to win by knockout. Takedowns are allowed, but a fighter is only given five-seconds to land strikes before the combatants are stood back up. Submissions are not permitted at all. The bout lengths are three three-minute rounds and all matches take place in a 21’ by 21’ pit with 45-degree embankments on each side.
