Ilir Latifi vs. Jan Blachowicz set for UFC Fight Night 53 in Sweden

Ilir Latifi will welcome UFC debutant Jan Blachowicz to the UFC later this year.

In a battle of Sweden vs. Poland, the light heavyweights will meet on the Oct. 4 UFC Fight Night 53 card in Stockholm, Sweden, the promotion announced Wednesday.

Latifi (9-3, 1 NC) returns to Sweden for the first time since he replaced teammate Alexander Gustafsson on four days’ notice against Gegard Mousasi in April 2013. Latifi would go on to lose to Mousasi via unanimous decision, however, he has since won his last two fights in a row. Most recently, the 31-year-old Swede knocked out Chris Dempsey at UFC Fight Night Dublin earlier this month.

Fighting out of Poznań, Poland, Blachowicz (17-3) has won five fights in a row and 14 of his last 15. While primarily fighting for the Polish-based KSW promotion, the 31-year-old holds wins over former UFC fighters Goran Reljic, Houston Alexander, Mario Miranda, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, as well as former Bellator 205-pound champion Christian M’Pumbu.

UFN 53 will air in the United States on UFC Fight Pass from the Ericsson Globe Arena. The promotion has yet to announce a main event for the card.
