The Invicta Fighting Championships returns for its third event on Saturday, Oct. 6.

And this time, the promotion will crown a champion.

The main event at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Mo. will feature a bout to name the first Invicta atomweight (105-lb.) championship, as Jessica Penne (9-1) will meet Naho Sugiyama (8-0).

Penn, a native of Orange County, Calif., was last seen at Invicta 1, where she scored an impressive TKO finish of Lisa Ellis-Ward. Sugiyama, from Kyoto, Japan, has fought her last five fights in Japan’s Jewels promotion, where shewon three times by decision and twice via submission.

Several other names familiar to fight fans will compete on Oct. 6, including veteran Shayna Baszler, who fought Sara McMann in a match of the year candidate at Invicta 2 before dropping a unanimous decision. She’ll meet Sarah D’Alelio, who is coming off a submission win over Vanessa Porto. Porto, meanwhile, will meet veteran Tara LaRosa (21-2), who makes her Invicta debut. And Julia Budd, best known for her Muay Thai victory over Gina Carano, will meet Elaina Maxwell.
