Special Forces soldier Tim Kennedy is facing ‘credible threats’ from followers of the Islamic State.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into a series of ‘credible threats’ against Special Forces solider and UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy.
The news was originally posted on ArmyTimes after Kennedy confirmed the news on his Facebook page.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Kennedy has received threats from social media accounts. They tend to target high profile military personnel. Kennedy served in the 7th Special Forces Group and is a sergeant first class with the Texas National Guard. However, while the majority of the threats seemed harmless, the FBI recently contacted him about several legitimate threats.
“Just spoke to the FBI regarding some recent credible threats towards me by #ISIS,” Kennedy wrote Wednesday evening on his official Facebook page. “They were not overly thrilled with my response … ‘Let those cowards come.'”
According to Kennedy, the FBI contacted him on Wednesday and informed him that several of the social media accounts are potentially dangerous.
“They said, ‘Are you aware of this stuff?’ I said, ‘Yes,'” Kennedy told ArmyTimes. “They said, ‘We think this is somewhat credible,'”
While the FBI is not particularly pleased with his response, Kennedy refused to play into the fear mongering perpetuated by the Islamic State.
“What’s the definition of terrorism?” Kennedy said. “It’s to achieve an objective through the use of force and fear. These are just nasty, evil, disgusting human beings who disrespect human life. I teach people how to live with threats like this. Who would I be to be cowering to a bunch of gutless cowards acting like a bunch of tough guys online?”
