Israel Adesanya is all about the superfights as of late. The interim middleweight champion has recently expressed an interest in a massive showdown with light heavyweight king Jon Jones inside Raiders Stadium in Las Vegas in 2021.
Now, Adesanya is hyping a potential superfight with heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Speaking to Submission Radio, Adesanya said he’s definitely open to jumping into the Octagon with Miocic. (H/T MMA Mania)
“Yeah, definitely,” Adesanya said. “There are certain things we can take advantage of (at heavyweight). And people think I’m gonna have to put on size, but that’s cause they’re dumb, they don’t understand the game.
“I weighed in with full clothes and a box of Dunkin’ Donuts the last time I fought at heavyweight. And so I stayed the same weight, but I still packed a punch. And I even dropped the second guy, flatlined him.”
Of course, before Adesanya can think about superfights with Jones and Miocic, he has to get through Robert Whittaker first. The pair headline UFC 243 inside the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday. Whittaker and Adesanya will be unifying their 185-pound titles in what has the potential to be the biggest fight in Australian history.
What do you think about Adesanya liking his chances against Miocic at heavyweight?
