You can add J.J. Ambrose (17-3) to the list of names expected to participate in Bellator Fighting Championships upcoming Season Six Lightweight Tournament.
Ambrose is the sixth name to surface for the tourney which already includes Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire, Rick Hawn, Thiago Michel, Ricardo Tirloni and Brent Weedman.
News of Ambrose’s addition was announced by MMAjunkie.com, who confirmed the info with sources close to the fighter.
Bellator’s season six tournament is expected to kick off this coming March on MTV2, with events airing on Friday nights. Besides a lightweight tournament, season six also includes tournaments in the bantamweight, featherweight, welterweight, and middleweight divisions.
Season six will mark Ambrose’s debut in a Bellator cage, and he will enter on a seven fight win streak. He fought twice in 2011, most recently winning a decision victory at a Pacific Xtreme Combat event as well as a submission win at a Rites of Passage event in West Beach, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
