Jacare Souza is hopeful of rematching Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in November,
Top UFC middleweight contender Jacare Souza is eager on rematching Kelvin Gastelum at the UFC 244 card, in New York on November 2nd.
Earlier this week, Gastelum took to Twitter to share his desire of fighting at the Madison Square Garden event. Jacare wasted no time in stating he wants to fight in New York again, and is hopeful of avenging his loss to Gastelum.
I’d like to fight in NY one more time . Let’s do it! https://t.co/gB05K3GiDA

Souza (26-7, 1NC) has gone 2-2 in his last four UFC appearances. Having bounced back with a KO win against Derek Brunson after a loss to current champ Robert Whittaker, Jacare suffered a split decision loss to Gastelum in their fight at UFC 224 in May of last year. Since then Jacare picked up a third-round knockout win over Chris Weidman at UFC 230, but most recently lost a decision to Jack Hermansson in April.
Following his win over Jacare, Gastelum (15-4, 1NC) was announced as a coach alongside Whittaker for season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter. The pair were supposed to fight after that at UFC 234, but an injury forced Whittaker to pull out just before the fight. Gastelum went on to challenge Israel Adesanya for the interim title at UFC 236, losing a unanimous decision in what will most likely be 2019’s Fight of the Year.
Only two fights have been announced for the UFC 244 card, a light heavyweight matchup between Corey Anderson and Johnny Walker, and a heavyweight fight between former title challenger Derrick Lewis and Blagoy Ivanov. Stay tuned for more fight booking news and notes as the event approaches.
