Jake Paul fires back at Firas Zahabi, who recently accused him of using performance-enhancing drugs.
Tristar Gym head coach Firas Zahabi made some noise a couple of weeks ago with some statements he made. Zahabi predicted a win for Jake Paul against Tyron Woodley, but also brought up a caveat.
I didn’t want to mention it, but my number one factor — Jake Paul’s corner, they’re going to be on all sorts of substances. I don’t think they test. Maybe the week of the fight, (but) there’s no USADA. I didn’t want to say, but I think that’s a major factor. When I say he’s bigger and stronger and he’s more athletic, I think he’s basically on PEDs.
I hate to say it, but I definitely think Jake Paul is going to be on PEDs. It exists in the world of boxing, just like it exists in MMA. And I don’t think Tyron will be on PEDs. I think Tyron will be totally natural. Does it make a difference? It absolutely does.
“The Problem Child” is now firing back. During his Thursday sit-down with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, the 24-year-old Paul brother first said it was a smear campaign to discredit him.
“My manager sent me that, like, the morning it came out,” he recalled. “He texted me, like, ‘Hey, by the way, Georges St-Pierre’s coach said you’re on PEDs.’ So I swiped up my phone — this is a true story, on my mom’s life, she’s looking me in the eyes — I swipe up my phone, click on Safari and type in ‘What is PEDs?’ And then I see it’s Performance-Enhancing Drugs.
“So I texted my manager back, ‘Good thing I had to Google what PEDs are.’ But I look at it as a compliment. People are trying to do anything they can to discredit me and take away from this journey. They’re already making excuses for (Woodley) when he loses.
“And this is a real fight. This isn’t the exhibition shit that my brother and Floyd did. No hate to them, but this isn’t an exhibition shit. I do real pro fights with a commission, who is drug testing me. So these claims are stupid.”
As for Firas, Paul had this to say.
“Of course, he’s doing it to get clout. Look at it, four weeks later, it’s still getting brought up in the interview, his name gets mentioned, and then he gets some clout.
“So I’m sure he’s a happy little wanker jerking off to these videos somewhere, getting all excited for the clout he’s getting.”
This now begs an important question: has Jake Paul been tested for illegal substances?
“Not yet. I think it happens, like, the day of the fight or the day before the fight. But, test me whenever.”
Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley happens this Sunday, August 29, at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
