It is no secret how shields felt about Conor McGregor, in fact, Shields was simply ecstatic when Diaz took down McGregor recently. Shields had a microphone hooked up and everyone could hear him taunt Conor McGregor as the fight slowly but surely slipped away from McGregor and into the hands of Diaz.
Shields could not hide his Joy and the taunting got a bit much and he had to be censored off. Why such strong feelings? Well, ever since McGregor jawed at him in the pre – bout conference, the bout had become more than just a fight for Shields, it was now personal.
Shields confessed in a recent interview that maybe his emotions got a little too out of control and he said somethings he should not have, but he justified the way he reacted to the downfall of McGregor by reasoning that McGregor had talked a lot of *insert explicit word here*in the preceding weeks and so Shields’ emotions were a little riled up.
When asked what he thought about a possible McGregor Diaz rematch, Shields said he did not believe McGregor would be up to take on Nate Diaz again. Shields continued that McGregor was a good fighter, but had gotten overhyped and then received a reality check courtesy of Nate Diaz.
Shields added that McGregor would have lost irrespective of whether he taunted him or not, and said that he was just trying to get in his head and thereby provide a helping hand to Nate Diaz.
