BOSTON — Round one goes to James Toney.
The champion boxer turned mixed martial artist who makes his MMA debut at Saturday’s UFC 118, captured the lion’s share of the media attention during the first day of fight week.
During a pre-fight press conference at the historic Faneuil Hall, Toney overshadowed five-time, multi-divisional UFC champ Randy Couture, who will be opposing him on Saturdday.
It’s something of a new role for Couture, who is quite used to the spotlight; in every fight he’s been a part of for the last five years, he’s been in the main event. This one is the co-main event, and so he’s not only in the second-billed fight, he also has to deal with Toney’s incessant promotion.
