Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz, the betting underdog in his last three fights, will open as the odds-on favorite for his next 205-pound title defense, expected to take place against top contender Glover Teixeira at some point later this year.
That’s according to the bookies over at BetOnline.ag, who set the Polish power puncher at -155 against +135 for Teixeira. Blachowicz (28-8) is the winner of five straight, including last weekend’s UFC 259 headliner over middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya.
As for Teixeira (32-7), the 41 year-old slugger is also coming off five straight wins dating back to Jan. 2019. His most recent appearance ended with a unanimous decision victory over Brazilian sledgehammer Thiago Santos at UFC on ESPN 17 in late 2020.
In addition, former bantamweight champion Petr Yan will remain the betting favorite for his Aljamain Sterling rematch, despite losing the belt via disqualification at UFC 259. “No Mercy” opened at -250 against +210 for “Funk Master.”
