A fight that had all the makings of an instant classic, a bout between Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Nick Diaz, had another nail hammered into the proverbial coffin on Sunday.
GracieFighter.com, homepage to Team Cesar Gracie and their fighter Nick Diaz, posted a notice saying Miller had refused to take the fight at 178 pounds but would fight at 183 pounds instead.
Miller has already stated he wouldn’t drop that much weight as he looked like a skeleton at 170 when he fought in the UFC.
Jason “Mayhem” Miller has opted to not take a fight with Nick Diaz in January at a catchweight of 178lbs.
Despite having previously fought at the 170lbs weight limit, Miller now says that he is unwilling to meet at 178 and instead wants Strikeforce’s Welterweight Champion to move up to middleweight to fight him.
Miller has stated he would be willing to lose 2 pounds and fight at 183lbs. As of yet Miller has defeated none of the top Strikeforce contenders but did win a fight on MTV’s Bully Beatdown show.
Strikeforce will now be searching for a new opponent for Diaz for their January card.
The only way these two will ever get into a scrap is behind the scenes where no cameras can see. I wouldn’t even expect to see both of these fighters on the same card just so Strikeforce can avoid anymore embarrassing incidents.
