“I shouldn’t say this because you always should support your people, but Colby is not a friend, he’s just acting weird.”
UFC women’s strawweight veteran Joanna Jedrzejczyk might share the same training facility as Colby Covington at American Top Team (ATT), but the 32-year-old won’t be supporting her teammate when he takes on Kamaru Usman for the official welterweight title at UFC 245.
In fact, speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani in a recent interview, Jedrzejczyk said she will be rooting for Kamaru Usman to put a beating on ‘Chaos’ to teach the controversial welterweight some respect.
“No, no focus on dumb people,” Joanna Jedrzejczyk said (via BJPENN.com). “Colby is something else. We let him be. We let him be.
“I never wish any fighter to get like hurt, I wish that Usman will beat his ass. I shouldn’t say this because you always should support your people, but Colby is not a friend, he’s just acting weird. He’s an ugly guy,” she continued. “You never talk bad about your teammates, doesn’t matter if you like them or not.”
Jedrzejczyk, who beat Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision this past weekend at UFC Tampa, went on to state that Covington’s shtick is all an act and that the former UFC interim welterweight champ is trying too hard to imitate Conor McGregor.
“He’s acting like he’s Conor McGregor. Trying to show on the video that people open the door for him, that he’s driving fancy cars,” Jedrzejczyk said. “He’s in show guys, he’s in [the show]. He’s a hard worker. I don’t buy it.”
UFC 245, which is expected to feature Usman vs. Covington as the main event, will take place later this year, Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
