And she will probably blame her team physician.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight titleholder, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, has not competed since losing an epic, five-round “Fight of the Year” opposite fellow ex-champion Zhang Weili at the UFC 248 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in March 2020.

That’s a span of nearly 20 months.

As a result, the promotion has ruled Jedrzejczyk ineligible for the upcoming UFC rankings update, which is likely to be reflected in this week’s rollover. That usually happens around Wednesday, which is why you’ll still find her name on the charts for the next day or so.

MMA Junkie confirmed the change on Monday.

Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been out of action even longer than Jedrzejczyk but remains ranked because there are different rules for different people. Just ask Nate Diaz, who drew a rankings punishment back in May 2014.

And let’s not forget the curious case of Leon Edwards.

Jedrzejczyk (16-4) turned 34 back in August but brushed off talk of retirement because she hasn’t been getting knocked out and doesn’t lose “like a pussy.” That said, the Polish piston has not won back-to-back contests in over four years and is currently 0-4 in her last four title fights.

Blame all those trips to the beach.
