Joanne Calderwood finally got a fight.
Calderwood will meet undefeated Ukrainian fighter Maryna Moroz at UFC Krakow on April 11 in Krakow, Poland, the organization announced Friday.
Calderwood (9-0), considered to be one of the best female strawweight fighters in the world, won her UFC debut in December when she defeated Seo Hee Ham via unanimous decision. Since then, she openly talked about being frustrated (along with her fans on social media) in her inability to get a fight before the UFC makes its debut in her hometown of Glasgow, Scotland on July 18.
“For me, this is perfect timing,” Calderwood stated in a press release issued by the UFC. “After this fight, I 100 percent want to fight on the Glasgow card on July 18th. It would be a dream come true for me to fight in Glasgow for the UFC. The opportunity to step inside the Octagon in front of a home crowd would be something I’d never forget.”
Moroz (5-0), nicknamed “The Iron Woman,” has finished all of her opponents, with four of her five wins coming via armbar.
UFC Krakow will be headlined by Mirko Cro Cop vs. Gabriel Gonzaga 2, and it will air live on UFC Fight Pass.
