Former UFC veteran and “The Ultimate Fighter” season two winner, Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson (31-14) has found a new home inside the cage after getting cut by the UFC this past summer.
It was announced on Saturday night during the W-1 MMA: “Reloaded” broadcast that Stevenson had signed with the promotion and would likely debut this coming February. ‘Daddy’ also participated in the color commentary for the Miami, Florida event as well as discussing his signing with W-1.
No opponent was named during the broadcast for Stevenson’s debut.
The former “TUF” winner was released from the UFC this past June after his fourth straight loss with the top promotion. Stevenson had dropped to featherweight after three straight losses at lightweight, debuting at 145 lbs against Javier Vazquez at the UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry event. ‘Daddy’ would lose a unanimous decision to the Cuban fighter and was released shortly thereafter.
Stevenson began his career with the UFC back in 2005, defeating Luke Cummo at the “TUF 2 Finale” to become “The Ultimate Fighter”. Since that time ‘Daddy’ went on to earn three “Fight of the Night” awards as well as earn a lightweight title fight against BJ Penn at UFC 80 against BJ Penn. Penn would finish the fight by second round submission.
Stevenson’s current losing skid includes losses to Vazquez, Danny Castillo via decision at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann, Mac Danzig by KO at UFC 124, and to George Sotiropoulos via decision at UFC 110.
