What already promised to be an epic evening on Sept. 5 just got a little more so.
Flyweights John Moraga and Tank Scoggins have agreed to meet at the UFC Fight Night card at Foxwoods Casino. The UFC tweeted the news Saturday.
Moraga (14-3) is coming off a stoppage loss to John Dodson on the June 7 UFC Fight Night in Albuquerque. Moraga suffered a broken nose in the second round of their fight after Dodson landed a knee. While he lasted until the end of the round, the cageside doctor stopped the bout over Moraga’s vigorous protests.
The 22-year-old Scoggins, meanwhile, has marked himself as one to watch at 125 pounds. the American Top Team Fighter is 9-1 and will look to rebound from a split-decision loss to Dustin Ortiz at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale last month.
The bout was added to an evening in which the UFC and Bellator will hold competing events in arenas less than an hour’s drive apart. The UFC Fight Night card will be held on Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation land near Ledyard, Conn.; while Bellator’s card is down the road at Mohegan Sun Casino.
