Michael Johnson missed weight for his featherweight showdown against Artem Lobov at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 138 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place this Saturday night (Oct. 27, 2018) on FOX Sports 1 inside Moncton Events Centre in New Brunswick, Canada.
“The Menace” clocked in at a not-so-egregious 147 pounds, one pound over the 146-pound limit (non-title fights allow a one-pound overage). While it’s easy to harp on fighters missing weight, this one is forgivable, as Johnson agreed to face Lobov on super-short notice when Zubaira Tukhugov was benched for his role in the UFC 229 shenanigans.
“The Russian Hammer” will be awarded 20-percent of his opponent’s purse, and while he previously refused to accept the money, it’s going to show up on his paycheck anyway, so it’s up to Lobov if he wants to cut a check after the event this weekend in “The Great White North.”
