Hey, remember yesterday when the unproven Paulo Costa was talking about winning three UFC titles and then moving on to become a successful boxer and everyone was like, “It doesn’t get any more ridiculous than that!”

Yes. Yes it does.

The same fighter who already told the mixed martial arts (MMA) universe that he can’t bust a grape is suddenly going to throw his name into the hat with pugilistic killers like Anthony Johnson and Deontay Wilder, simply because “people” want to see it.

Who are these “people?” Show yourselves!

“Right now my mindset is more about making money, even those big fights,” former UFC champion Jon Jones told RT Sports. “You know, I watched Conor McGregor fight Floyd Mayweather, and it was high risk, high reward. There’s a saying, ‘scared money don’t make money’. I gotta be brave when I get back in the game and start challenging guys that I could possibly lose to, because that’s what people want to see.”

Making good on this promise would be a great start and to his credit, Jones does appear interested in some of the bigger names at 265 pounds. But I’m not sure who’s clamoring to watch “Bones” get broken in the “sweet science.”

Unless it’s for ZUFFA.

“They want to see Jones versus Velasquez, they want to see Jones versus Ngannou, that’s what people want to see, and that’s where my mindset is,” Jones said. “Jones versus Anthony Joshua, or Deontay Wilder, you know, that’s what people want to see.”

They first want to see Jones come back from his drug-test suspension.

While the boxing experiment didn’t work out for McGregor, he did get to bank $30 million and create a worldwide brand in the process, so it’s not surprising to hear Jones — or some of these other UFC stars — talk about making the jump to boxing.
