The former UFC light heavyweight champion assures fans that his younger brother, Chandler Jones, is in a “good position” following his recent trouble with synthetic marijuana.
Earlier in January, it was reported that Jon Jones‘ younger brother Chandler Jones — a defensive end of the NFL’s New England Patriots — was hospitalized after taking a form of synthetic marijuana.
The 25-year-old is reported to have dropped to his knees after arriving at the Foxborough PD station in a disorientated state but appears to have recovered to full health.
“Bones”, who had recently detailed his addiction to marijuana in an interview with Ariel Helwani, told TMZ earlier today that Chandler is in a good place mentally and is striving “to make things right”.
“Chandler’s doing great,” Jones said. “Chandler’s doing really good, you know. Chandler’s a young guy who has a lot thrown at him – a new level of fame and success, new opportunities and…he’s going through his growing pains and doing what he has to do to make things right. But Chandler’s in a good position man, I’m so happy for him.”
MMA’s pound-for-pound #1 was stripped of his light heavyweight title after his involvement in a three-way car accident in April. Jones plead guilty to hit and run and was sentenced to 18-months probation. The former champion was recently reinstated to the UFC roster and is expected to rematch current champion Daniel Cormier at an upcoming PPV.
