When will Jon Jones make his UFC return?

No doubt the former pound-for-pound great is getting restless and perhaps feels like the odd man out, now that the mixed martial arts (MMA) community has embraced the accomplishments of his longtime rival, Daniel Cormier, in the wake of “DC’s” historic night at UFC 226 last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada (see it again here).

Unfoftunately for “Bones.” he doesn’t appear to be any closer to lacing up the gloves, though does insist the time away from combat sports will not leave him rusty (like this), but rather rest him for what could be his best run yet.

“The update is that I’m alive and well, been enjoying my family this summer and also doing a lot of personal growth work,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “No clue when I’ll be back in the Octagon exactly. But I do believe wholeheartedly that my best days in the UFC are still ahead.”

Jones is mired in a somewhat confusing situation. He flunked his UFC 214 drug test last July and was provisionally suspended by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), but now close to a year later, his disciplinary action — which could be up to four years on the bench — has yet to be finalized and “Bones” still hasn’t gone through his final stage of arbitration.

That means something is going on behind the scenes that we aren’t privy to and the Jones team continues to deny any intentional cheating. In the meantime, his license will remain revoked by California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) until USADA wraps this up.

Tick tock, tick tock.
