Stay on topic, fellas.
Who staged the best grappling tournament of 2024?
Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) went head-to-head with Gordon Ryan and Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) last weekend in Las Vegas, continuing a rivalry between Jones and Ryan that has been one of the big talking points in the jiu-jitsu community for the last several years.
Jones defected from the ADCC tournament after expressing his frustration with the anemic pay scale, and managed to raise enough money to dish out a pair of million-dollar paydays. In addition, CJI aired live and free on YouTube and generated 3.18 million views.
Not surprisingly, Jones and Ryan had words after the dust settled in “Sin City.”

I guess attacking significant others is common in the jiu jitsu community.
ADCC is staged every two years and it’s not yet known if Jones is one-and-done or plans to hold another CJI tourney when ADCC returns in 2026. In addition, Ryan continues to flirt with retirement as a result of health problems so his Jones rivalry may soon be put to bed.
