Jones was silent through all the trash thrown his way by Covington leading up to UFC Tampa. Now he’s kicking ‘Chaos’ while he’s down after a one-sided loss.
Jon Jones is dragging Colby Covington after “Chaos” took a one-sided beating at the hands and feet of Joaquin Buckley.
Covington and Jones were roommates for a hot minute back at Iowa Central Community College, and for years Colby has made all sorts of wild claims about Jones from back in the day. Leading up to the Buckley fight, Covington repeatedly called Jones out for “fruity” behavior, saying “Bones” would wear nail polish and (gasp) once wore a pink singlet.
In an interview with MMA Guru — who released a hilarious if factually dubious 45 minute YouTube video accusing Jones of being gay — Covington suggested Jones would disguise sexual advances towards him as play wrestling.
Colby Covington claims he had to put a stop to Jon Jones’ advances disguised as “wrestling practice” when they were room mates
“he has a lot of fruity tendencies… the way he would wrestle me… it was almost like he wanted to grope on me”

Covington should have spent more time working on his wrestling takedowns rather than his verbal takedowns, because he got beat up bad by Buckley in Tampa. That loss puts his record over the past five years to 2-4 and ends his days as a title contender. Following the bout he blamed the loss on a lack of training camp due to being on the campaign trail helping Donald Trump win the 2024 election.
Now Jones is firing back and mocking him over those excuses.
“Big shoutout to Colby Covington for skipping training to get President Trump ‘ready’—we all appreciate the sacrifice,” Jones tweeted. “At least he got to see me win.”
“That’s what I find the most hilarious,” Jones added. “Listening to what he’s gonna come up with next after getting his ass whooped.”

When a fan suggested “Don’t even acknowledge Colby. He’s a bum,” Jones replied, “I know I shouldn’t but it’s just so much fun. It’s amusing watching someone you know hate you fail repeatedly.”
“Colby fought a dangerous contender at 37 years old on short notice. You can ONLY dream of that,” another person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Yeah, I could only dream of making such a dumb decision,” Jones replied. “Being on a losing streak. You’re right I can only dream.”
Jones remains a near-perfect 28-1-1 and most recently dismantled former champ Stipe Miocic to defend his heavyweight belt. We’re still waiting to see whether he’ll defend that title against true No. 1 contender and interim champion Tom Aspinall, but don’t worry: UFC CEO Dana White has given us a 100% guarantee that fight will happen.
