Jon Jones explains why he’s glad Glover Teixeira beat Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 13.
Jon Jones is thrilled with Glover Teixeira’s submission win over Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night 185, as the former two-time light heavyweight champ no longer has to listen to criticism about ‘running’ from the latter.
After hailing Teixeira ‘the new goat’, ‘Bones’ explained why he’s ‘so glad’ the Brazilian picked up the win on Saturday night.
So glad I don’t have to read tweets about running from Santos, If he would’ve won everyone would be talking mad trash tonight

“So glad I don’t have to read tweets about running from Santos, If he would’ve won everyone would be talking mad trash tonight,” Jones, who holds wins over both men, posted last night.
Jones beat Teixeira convincingly back in 2014 but had a much tougher time against Santos in 2019, earning a controversial split decision win at UFC 239 to retain his light heavyweight title. Some pundits scored the bout in favor of Santos and accused Jones of avoiding a rematch but, after last night’s result, the former LHW champ can put those claims to rest.
Jones vacated the UFC light heavyweight title earlier this year and is expected to move up in weight to challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight strap.
