Jon Jones says Chris Weidman is in over his head.
Chris Weidman has Jon Jones’ attention, but the UFC light-heavyweight king warns that is not a good thing.
Jones took to Instagram on Sunday to address remarks about him made by Weidman in the media. Weidman made critical statements about Jones’ skillset ahead of the former middleweight champion’s 205-pound debut vs. Dominick Reyes at UFC Boston. Jones warned Weidman in a short video post.
“Be careful with that target you’re staring at on my back, it just might bite you in the ass,” Jones captioned the video. “Yo, I’m just checking the news, somebody tell Chris Weidman he don’t want to fight me. Hey Chris, stop,” he said in the video.
Weidman recently told Submission Radio that Jones has not “looked that good” or “as dangerous” in recent title defenses. Jones is coming off three-consecutive wins: a split decision over Thiago Santos, a unanimous decision against Anthony Smith and third-round TKO of Alexander Gustafsson. UFC Boston takes place on Oct. 18.
