With UFC 239 just five weeks away, Jon Jones is wasting no time in playing the mind games ahead of his title fight against Thiago Santos, which is set to go down on July 6, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The current Light Heavyweight champion took to Instagram to post a video of Thiago getting dropped by Jack Marshman by a huge right hand.

All of part of Jon’s film study session.

Things have been very respectful between the two combatants, though “Bones” did take exception to the Brazilian bomber constantly bringing up his failed drug tests and calling him a “roider.” Naturally, Jon fired back, telling Thiago that every person who’s brought up his tainted past has ended up being just another notch on his belt.

Santos earned his shot at Jones and his title by winning four straight bouts, including his first three at 205 pounds, all via knockout. “Marreta” was last seen sleeping Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 145 in Prague. Santos will need those heavy hands to be accurate when it comes to Jon, as the 205-pound king has faced some of the hardest hitters in all of mixed martial arts (MMA) and has yet to be dropped, much less defeated.

This will be Jon’s third title fight in the span of eight months, as “Bones” is adamant about making up for lost time. If all goes well, Jon is eying another title fight before the year is out. Whether or not he can be the next man to drop Santos, remains to be seen.

UFC 239 will also feature a women’s Bantamweight title fight as Amanda Nunes defends her strap against Holly Holm, while Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren collide in Welterweight action. Also, Luke Rockhold will make his Light Heavyweight debut when he faces the aforementioned Blachowicz.
