It seems the much-talked about super fight between current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, and hard-hitting Heavyweight contender, Francis Ngannou, has hit a bit of a speed bump.

During a recent barrage of tweets, “Bones” revealed that the promotion failed to pony up the cash to make the fight a reality. Furthermore, the 205-pound kingpin channeled his inner-Conor McGregor by teasing an extended leave of absence and that it would now be red panty night for the division.

And that’s that?

Earlier today (Thurs., May 21, 2020), Jones added another demand for a potential bout against “The Predator,” stating that if he was going to move up to Heavyweight, he would only do so if there was a title on the line. Currently, Stipe Miocic is the 265-pound champion and is in line to defend it against Daniel Cormier, so perhaps the promotion wasn’t feeling an interim belt.

Of course, this could all be a bit of a ruse just to get a reaction from the mixed martial arts (MMA) community. If not, well then it seems Ngannou will have to look elsewhere for a fight and the promotion may have to start considering an interim title fight at 205 pounds…just in case.

You know Mark Hunt is going to have a field day with this one.
