Jorge Masvidal has found Bigfoot, and will release him into the jungles of bareknuckle MMA.
Jorge Masvidal is bringing Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva to the world of Gamebred Fighting Championship and bare-knuckle mixed martial arts (MMA).
Masvidal is setting the wheels in motion for Gamebred Fighting Championship 2, the second event from Masvidal’s bare-knuckle MMA promotion. The event takes place in Biloxi, Mississippi on Sat., Sept. 11. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight title challenger told Ariel Helwani and The MMA Hour that Silva will headline the event.
Silva will face fellow UFC veteran Alex Nicholson in a three-round main event. Once a legitimate UFC heavyweight contender, Silva (19-13-0-1 in MMA, 0-1 in bare-knuckle boxing) is on a losing streak dating back to Nov. 2015. He has lost seven consecutive fights between professional MMA and bare-knuckle boxing, suffering knockout losses in six. Those losses range from greats like Mark Hunt and Gabriel Gonzaga to lesser-known fighters like Quentin Domingos.
Nicholson is 1-3 in his past four fights following a two-year stint in the UFC.
Masvidal (35-15) has not competed professionally since losing to UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman via second-round knockout (KO) at UFC 261 on April 24.
