Jorge Patino vs. Jose Landi-Jons is signed for the World Series of Fighting’s first trip to Brazil in 2014, but “Macaco” has another bout before he faces his long-time rival.
WSOF’s executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz told MMAFighting.com that Patino is set to make his promotional debut on Jan. 18 in Miami, Fla., when he takes on Luis Palomino. Combate first reported the news.
“Macaco” (35-14-2, 1 no-contest), a former Legacy FC lightweight and welterweight champion, enters the bout following a decision loss to Carlos Diego Ferreira at Legacy FC 25, after racking up a seven-fight win streak, which included wins over UFC veterans Efrain Escudero and Pete Spratt.
Born in Lima, Peru, Palomino (21-9) also makes his WSOF debut in Miami. Initially expected to take on Richard Patishnock at the same card, the Bellator veteran has won seven of his last nine fights, including knockout victories over Gesias Cavalcante and Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett.
