Former Segnoku champion and UFC veteran, Jorge ‘The Sandman’ Santiago (25-10) will reportedly return to the welterweight division when he faces Quinn Campamocha’ Mulhern this September in the Strikeforce cage.

@spilledbagofice You heard it from me first: I’m fighting September 29th in Sacramento against Jorge Santiago.

Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy is scheduled to take place on September 29, 2012 at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California. The event has Strikeforce lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez defending his title against Pat Healy.

Santiago will make his Strikeforce debut at the Sacramento show, entering the bout on a two fight win streak since his dismissal from the UFC. ‘The Sandman’ earned first round finishes this year at Titan Fighting Championship shows in June and March with a submission win over Justin Guthrie and a knockout finish of Leonardo Pecanha. Santiago rejoined the UFC last year and went 0-2 before receiving his pink slip after a decision loss to Demian Maia and a TKO loss to Brian Stann.

Mulhern has won three straight and is 3-1 in the Strikeforce cage. The former KOTC welterweight champ fought this past May winning a split decision over Yuri Villefort at the Barnett vs. Cormier show. His other wins in the Strikeforce cage include a decision versus David Hulett and a submission finish of Danny Davis. Mulhern is 10-1 in his last eleven matches dating back to February 2010.
