Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Jose Aldo is so good, he’s able to beat top division contenders with a single arm! That includes Frankie Edgar, who tried and failed to overcome “Junior” at UFC 156 back in 2013.
And Aldo (via MMA Fighting) expects history to repeat itself this summer.
“I don’t see evolution in him. He has adapted to the division, but I don’t see an evolution. He continues doing the same game, same movement. I respect him, but I’m capable of getting there and winning. I haven’t watched [our first fight] anymore because I know I easily won that. I won that only with my left arm. You can say he won the fifth round and that’s it, but I won the other four. I won, no doubt.”
A lot has changed between then and now.
We’ll see if Aldo’s assessment holds up in the UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event, which crowns a new division interim titleholder on July 9, 2016 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner is expected to face 145-pound champion Conor McGregor later this year.
