Andre Pederneiras says he prayed for Conor McGregor to defeat Nate Diaz at UFC 202. Now he wants Conor back at featherweight to rematch Jose Aldo.
Nova Uniao’s head coach, Andre Pederneiras, really wants interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo to rematch Conor McGregor. So much that he told the MMA Hour he actually prayed for “The Notorious” to score a win against Nate Diaz and finally come back to the featherweight division.
“I prayed for him to win.” Pederneiras said. Now he needs to come back to his division and give Aldo the rematch. I don’t understand why he wants another fight with Nate and doesn’t want to give Aldo a new chance. I can’t understand him. Now he’s saying he might go to lightweight. No way, he needs to go back to featherweight and give Aldo the rematch. He earned it.”
Jose Aldo (26-2) became the interim featherweight champion when he defeated Frankie Edgar by unanimous decision back at UFC 200, while Conor McGregor (20-3) just edged out a majority decision victory against Nate Diaz at UFC 202. McGregor took the featherweight belt from Aldo with a 13-second KO at UFC 194 last December, but has yet to defend his title.
