A neck injury has forced Julia Budd out of her main-card bout against Ediane Gomes at Invicta FC 6. Replacing her in the featherweight fight on July 13 is Charmaine Tweet.
The 32-year-old Gomes, a Ft. Lauderdale resident by way of Brazil, is 10-2 and rides a four-fight win streak in the bout. Tweet, a Saskatchewan native, is 4-3 with victories in her past three fights.
The bout is a battle of submission specialists, as Gomes has earned seven of her 10 victories via tapout and Tweet has earned all four of her wins via submission.
Another change was announced for the undercard, as Sarah Schneider had to drop out of her strawweight bout with up-and-coming Scotland native Joanne Calderwood (6-0). Schneider will be replaced by Norma Carter (2-0), a Jackson’s MMA fighter.
The card in Kansas City will be headlined by a fight to crown the first Invicta featherweight championship, a rematch between Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Marloes Coenen.
