Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung faced each other in a Featherweight contest today (Sat., Dec. 21, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 165, which took place inside Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea. In a stellar win, Jung secured the early knockout.

Jab landed early for Edgar, who ducked a counter right hand. The two traded left hooks. Good low kick scored for Edgar. Edgar shot in, was stuffed, but landed a low kick. Jung scored a hard left hook that wobbled his foe’s knees before stuffing another takedown. Jung fired off another combination, knocking Edgar to the mat and taking the back. Jung flattened his opponent out from back mount, the worst possible position, and nearly forced the finish on a couple occasions. Edgar kept moving, however, but he only seemed to be delaying the inevitable. Jung continued to flatten his foe and land hard shots. Edgar escaped out the back door, but he still looked very wobbly on his feet. Jung backed off and cracked Edgar with another right hand, sending him to the mat once more.

The referee had seen enough.

It was really a perfect performance from Jung, who accurately countered Edgar’s blitzes with hard shots. Once Edgar was hurt, Jung never took his foot from the gas, really punishing Edgar for the majority of the first round to secure the finish.

Result: Chan Sung Jung defeats Frankie Edgar via knockout at 3:18 of round one
