Scott Jorgensen wants a rematch. Jussier Formiga is willing to give him one.
One day after the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) denied Jorgensen’s appeal to overturn his submission loss to Formiga to a no-contest, the Kimura Nova Uniao flyweight is open to another bout with “Young Guns.”
“I’m an employee, so of course I’d fight him again,” Formiga told MMAFighting.com. “I don’t care if I’m fighting him or anyone else. I’m here to fight. I’d fight him in Brazil or in the United States.”
Formiga, who tapped Jorgensen with a rear-naked choke in the first round on March 23 in Natal, Brazil, at UFC Fight Night 38, is confident that he would be able to do it again.
“I believe that, if we go to the ground, I would submit him again,” he said. “I had a strategy to stand a little with him, but I thought he would have a better ground game, but thanks God I was a killer and caught him.”
Jorgensen appealed to CABMMA claiming that he went down because of a headbutt and woke up when Formiga was already on his back. But Formiga doesn’t see it that way.
“I re-watched the whole fight and we really clashed, but it was not a clash of heads,” the Brazilian said. “The impact was below his chin, on his neck, and he went down. I saw it from different angles and I don’t think we clashed our heads.”
